Introdution to Podcasting

What is Podcasting?

What is Podcasting and how can it be part of the learning process? (Thanks to Ted Lai for the wording)

A: The term 'Podcasting' is a combination of the two words 'iPod' and 'broadcasting.' Sometimes referred to as 'audio blogging,' Podcasting has been described as TiVo for radio; it is audio and multimedia content that you can download and update through the Internet automatically, and you can listen to it whenever you want on your computer or mp3 player.

Q: Do I need an iPod to listen to a podcast?

A: Absolutely not! Many people just listen to Podcasts on their computer, but if you want to take them anywhere, then an mp3 player is a great tool. The iPod is just the most stylish way to listen to Podcasts.

Q: What is an enhanced Podcast?

A: An enhanced Podcast is more than audio. It is a special audio file (m4a not mp3) that can include images, text, and weblinks.
